Okay, so this "Magnet-Assisted Positioning System" is just another way to say "Auto Alignment System".
MoYu's MagLev Adjustment moves one magnet up and down. QiYi's MagLev Adjustment moves that magnet sideways in one direction.
QiYi's Tornado V3 MagLev Adjustment vid displayed it so I don't have to talk maths.
Pin me because i saw you
Let's do some physics. Spring compression uses Hooke's Law: F = -kx. Which mean as it gets more squished, the force increases in a linear way. As it presses down it pushes back the same amount. Magnet compression (the repelling force) uses Coulomb's Law: F = k * (m1 * m2) / r². As magnets get closer together, they push apart stronger and more than springs. The problem with cubes until now, is that they've had the same mechanism for springs and maglev, even though the repelling force is different. A friendly message from @ozymandiasfamilyfun
brother ur gonna be the reason im gonna be in debt 😭
This tech was already around in the pioneer tv3

Picube shop has a video of solves with the predator magnets.
What does this mean 😭 I'm just as confused as you Mike
Inverse square law it's common amongst electromagnetism.
Springs are exponential too…
Your channel is amazing!🙂
Springs are linear by the way. So making the maglev linear is something that all cubes have struggled with until now. It actually makes sense to offset the magnets like this to make it linear so that they can use the same adjustment system between maglev and springs.
The tech is very much baffling
i think they made it so that the maglev adjustment is linear, but that the compression that happens during turning/corner-cutting is still exponential. So they're replicating the adjustment properties of springs and the turning properties of maglev.
Ive never noticed any issues with uneven jumps in settings with maglev but i guess i never played with the settings too much, but offset magnets just sound like better system. In theory it should allow for more consistent and intuitive. And i think its just as easy to implement of a system as moving magnets closer so its just sraight up upgrade
Wasn’t that the same way tv3’s maglev worked? As far as I know the tv3 had an offset maglev that moved like what you and mango were explaining in this video. I thought it was strange when I first saw illustrations of it. So the tv4 will just be the same? As far as maglev goes.
Hey NZ I just made a review on the new ball core VIN cube I think it is seriously under hyped would you be willing to take a look?
In the video made by the cubicle, they show a picture of the version with 3 magnets on the edges!

THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSS SPEEDDCUBENZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12:09 YESSSSS IM THEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HE GAVE ME A SHOUTOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That baffling title is so baffling im baffled
Ok
Yasss! Physics!
Obviously not here before SpeedcubeNZ.
