Hello there!
First of all, we would like to thank Bluedrake for making this video, we're always very grateful whenever anyone spreads a good word about us. The support is what gives us the drive to keep on going. We have been working on the project in our free time for a while and we're not planning to stop anytime soon. ^^
That being said, we'd like to clarify some things because there seems to be a misunderstanding which Bluedrake has addressed in the video.
We're not really re-making any of the old Jedi Knight games, nor are we making a new Jedi Knight game. I think a better way to describe it is that Vertex aims to be a "spiritual successor". Although you will still be able to play with Star Wars mods, the game itself will not be provided with any protected content. The lightsaber and the "Bespin" map were custom-made and added to one of the public versions to show off what you could achieve with just modding the game. In other words, we're planning to make the game heavily moddable, to a point where modders will be able to make Vertex look like an entirely different game. It's not possible to mod Vertex yet, but we're surely getting there 🙂
What you saw in the video is a build from 4 months ago (yes the updates are slow, but shh they'll be faster as we get more support and free time :P).
If you'd like to see how the more recent version looks, we have a new video on our channel which shows some of the upcoming (though unfinished) features. The newest update will definitely be released this month, and we'd love to have you try it out with us!

I honestly don't want anything other than a modern remake to Jedi knight but apparently it is completely impossible I give up on ever hoping for a good star wars game but my yearning won't let me stop desiring such a thing even though it's a lost cause

ill be honest, i kind of prefer the old saber mechanics, this one feels too much like chivalry, in the original game when you managed to block a flurry, because of how blocking worked, it actually felt and looked like a movie or clone wars style fight, and with the different styles available you could mix and match depending on the sit,
I'd like to see saber duels follow the controls of For Honor with a bit more movement speed. That would be epic.

The only way to balance this game correctly is to reduce the speed in which a player may strafe or back pedal.
Im 24 i started playing this game when i was 6 it was 2005… ive played every star wars game since and nothing compares to jedi academy…

This game is the best from the fight mode.
Tried to play. Creator guy is nice worker, made it coo;l and playeble. I tried to connect to some room or create my own for multiplay, but i failed and drop to try.

You sound too excited "oh my god…can't believe i'm playing this right now…"….playing what ? walked around in some empty areas, then dived into the stinking PvP. The game is worthy for the Single Player story, which i don't see in this video. So, what kind of review is this ?
And the final touch is that they also remade the iconic multiplayer map bespin streets

This is an interesting idea but why does this somehow remind me of Battlefront? It's just, to me, it seems to have a Battlefrontie feel to it.
i always felt jedi knight got thew best ever spellsword mechanics in any game ever made, this should kinda be ported to some skyrim style rpg where you can sandbox a hole lot more
I actually like the choice of saber or sword because the old jedis and knights had swords the saber swords then light sabers so it's actually a cool feature
Spent my entire childhood on ffa_bespin.
The duels on the landing pad, the ffs&pps in the lower streets.
the chilling and just talking up on the rooftops and the running away from lamers across the bridges.
Absolutely love jedi knight 2 to death, I grew up with it and will always be special to me.
I still log in every now and then and see some old faces from back in the day and made some great friends there
Too bad this project seems to be based on 1.04 and not 1.02a (the best version obviously)
Other than that, looks great

Ok this is insanely awesome. But, I wish they would have done it with Jedi Knight II-Jedi Outcast. The game play/saber tricks are waaaaay better.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!….and please tell me the dismemberment mod still works…they could make it like an anime all ridiculous and stuff with these metal weapons

This looks suspiciously similar to the original games. I think they're using the source code for the game that was released a while ago, which, if that is the case, that probably should be disclosed by the developers. The source code is owned by Activision and might even be partially owned by Disney. (Finding out who owns the rights to shit can be kinda a nightmare) You could give them the benefit of the doubt and say they could've remade the game and tried to stay extremely faithful but there's too many similarities to the point that I really doubt that. But if they have used the source code then it's highly suspicious that they'd open up a patreon for the project and they're offering beta builds as an incentive. (Which would basically be selling code they don't own and could end with them being sued)
