by admin

3 Game Developers, 3 Engines, 1 hour тАУ In this battle we aim to prototype the level layout for a horror game level in just 60 minutes. ItтАЩs interesting to see the differences and similarities between the 3 big game engines тАУ Unity, Unreal Engine and Godot.

It's funny to see how much godot is struggling in 3d xD

@RaveKev March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

I love the comments, the sarcasm, all the fun you have in each of your videos!

In unreal you can grab several items. Pull them up and press the "end" button and all will be on the floor.

@MasonVeil March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

If it was 3 hours you could even split each hour up in another video for more content. Plus show off the engines more.

@MasonVeil March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Man I love these. But I wish it could be a full day of development so the engines can shine a little more on their differences. Or at least 3 hours.

Great! More videos like this please! <3

It is more about devs creativity, not the engine caps. They can make a horror game in RPGMaker just as well.

@JackofallBrix March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Go Godot!

@kameenavery9616 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

This was a fun watch. Seeing the different ways you guys were able to create within such a short time span

@Mr_Nubie March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Do a 2hour next!

@sunofabeach9424 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

a Godot developer has an unfair advantage of using the engine that was made solely for prototyping

@BrunodeSouzaLino March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Luckily for the Unity guy, he didn't have to put the game for people to download, so it didn't cost him anything.

@aspectnato8077 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Different devs will mean different games…it's not even a fair comparison UNLESS all three games are made using all three engines.

@chasewilltin8567 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

can you guys do one for modeling. like Blender vs Maya vs 3ds max, or even their forks.

@lPsychoMax March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Despite Godot having less tools to make stuff, the level made has a lot of charm to it.
Unreal feels more realistic with high detail but it ends up generic and Unity feels halfway between them.

I could honestly see Godot being used to make some really good looking retro levels. The example giving me a strong silent hill vibe at the start, I might start using it since it had less problems running for me than the other two. Only thing I dislike is the sharp corners; is there a way to smooth the edges in Godot?

@hauntedcrowdev March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Wow! I'm very surprised this was achieved in just 1 hour. Very impressive!

@matthewsmith4399 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Waiting for a 3d rogulike course in unity. None on the internet. And would give you the opportunity to teach procedural generation, permadeath , etc.

@someman7 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

1:22 Finally a way to design objects that I understand, the.. uhm… "modelling" mode. Shout out to "Minetest" btw.

@coding_guy March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

how did they make that 3d pixelated effect in godot?

@diegohiroshiysusvideos2909 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Unity Win!… Flawless Victory

@RangersDubai March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

love this

@BetaTester704 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

I am biased but this definitely wasn't fair since it's 3 devs and 3 engines.

@6SecondSilence March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

This editing job is horrendous. Stop with the cringeworthy cuts and stick to the content, please.

@jeruki March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

I once did a horror level in Unreal and the lightning is definitely the most difficult part to get the right mood, this was great learnt new things from the 3 of them ЁЯША

@T3rrifk March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Awesome Video, this looks like a lot of fun. If you ever do a part 2 to this series on Horror games I'd love to participate. I just got into YouTube, but I've been making horror games for a few years now. You can checkout my channel if you want to know more.

@thegreendude2086 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

I sas hoping we'd get a sort of wrapped up thoughts and conclusion.
I mean, from the usability he said that Godot is not good in that regard, but he still nailed the level. Mean while Unreal has a lot of tools but its also overwhelming and he attached the stairs and lose usability on the way.

@HyperBassYT March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Finally not that gorka guy

@Therealgamer33 March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

you need to do these more often i love watching these from my favorite helpers

@haydenap March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

This was great. I was laughing at multiple points throughout the battle. I wonder how this concept could be expanded on ЁЯдФ

@teeterttooter March 24, 2024 - 3:07 am

Unreal and Godot simply have different niches, Godot is
definitely better at prototyping and general productivity in my opinion, but Unreal is packed full of some cool features.
