The numbers are changing every day, so by the end of 2024, movies may bounce back and Furiosa may be added for our end of year final video on this. Thanks for watching.
Loved Abigail and The Fall Guy and bought the Blu-rays on both. Enjoyed Ministry and Argyle.
Abigail could’ve benefited from a better title. Like if you’re looking at a list of movies to watch, a random girls name is not gonna jump out at you. Argyle too.
Abigail is going to become a cult classic.
ministry of of ungentlemanly warfare is a lot of fun , i think the reason most of these flopped is because what they were doing has been done before better
Alan Ritchson ran his mouth about his politics as Ungentlemanly Warfare was releases. Alienated the demographic that would watch and possibly hurt Reacher as well
Doesn't help that 'IF' uses a song about maturation in its trailers. Not a good look. Always bothered me from the first time I saw the ad.
I have only seen Furiosa and I LOVED it. Too long? Sure. A backstory with a backstory…lame. I'm holding out hope for ALIEN: Romulus.
Well deserved downfall of movie industry
A 🇨🇦Canadian, I'm sad that our "Two Ryans" both suffered low audience approval in a movie – soon after each helming BIG success, i.e. Reynolds' Deadpools, Gosling's Barbie.
If you want to lose money…put China John Cena in your movie
So tired of the puff piece celebrity bio films. If you aren't willing to include the ugly, it's all just lies.
Cailey Fleming is adorable in If but it wasn’t enough to save it.Too dramatic.
Movie theaters are dead and streaming killed it.
Sure, Covid and inflation factor in. But streaming was the true killer.
alot of these movies are just too woke and have bad actors!!
That quote from the book of clarence "Im just playing the cards I was dealt" Is that deliberately stupid or am I missing something? Bone dice were the gambling items of the ancient world – not playing cards.
The trouble is that most people can’t get off their fat arses and go the cinema to watch a film anymore and instead wait for it to be available to watch at home!
One day, cinemas will become extinct!
They just need to stop making movies now cuz no one is never happy with a movie now everyone hates on them no matter what
Nobody can afford to go to the movies anymore, so maybe that’s a factor? Also these movies nearly immediately go to streaming once they leave theaters.
why does a kids film NEED George Clooney? Are there a lot of 8-year-olds clambering for him to voice their new imaginary character?
I loved The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare & really enjoyed Abigail. I liked Argyle…it wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t terrible. Felt like one long music video style (which made sense b/c the director was a music video director).
Argyle deserved a lot better!
2024 has sucked for movies. 10 worst movies 1.) Mean Girls, 2.) Atgyle, 3.) Furiosa, 4.) Abigail, 5.) Kung Fu Panda 4, 6.) Back to Black, 6.) If, 7.) Dune Part II,8.) Beekeeper, 9.) Madam Web, and 10.) Dispifable Ms 4 from Kanuary-July 2024. This year has sucked for movies/TV and video games. Not too many Anime/cartoons haven’t been that fsntastic that much this year. It’s been a meh yesr for entertainment. Not really a lot of new albums or DVDs. Still fsntastic concerts and SM as also been the driving force of this decade. I’m just waiting for the entertainment bubble to end after it popped in 2020-23. I’m wanting for less mediocre and bad YV shows and movies for 2025-30.
I literally just watched Abigail, I bought it on Amazon, and I really enjoyed it was fun.
Abigail? Is WatchMojo insane???
I hate that Abigail is on here bc it’s a really great movie!! I’m shocked that The Fall Guy is on here bc I’ve mainly heard positive reviews. Also, Madame Web is #4 & not #1 bc of all the negative reviews it’s received. I barely heard any reviews about Argylle.
argyle was a good book . they should have filmed that
If the movies flop they can probably write off the loss. I’m not sure they really care because they certainly don’t make any moves to change how they do things.
Could this possibly lead to less movie stars? Sweet!
If was also sooo good but soooo sad.
The fall guy was great though let’s be fair. Cracking movie. Would have done better if it was in cinemas longer than 4 weeks without going to digital. 2 weeks in the cinema in the uk before digital. Crazy
Really dug The Fall Guy and Abigail. Not sure about the rest of them.
Argyle could have been a "fun" date movie had they made it a 90 minute run time. With a nearly 2.5 hour run time and several mind-numbingly long CGI-filled fight scenes that never seem to end, it unfortunately turned into a real snore fest.
As a common person I will tell you why each one of these movies failed…badly.
#10 Abagale – Why did we fight so dammed hard for the writers if they are just going to keep writing about vampires. Ugly & scary vampires, young and hot vampires, funny vampires, vampires who fight other vampires…HAY, how about a young vampire who dances. We are DONE with vampires. STOP IT with the vampires…PLEASE! Seriously, isn’t about time you did a different twist on Beauty & the Beast?!?
#9 Back to Black – Personally I could care less about the life & times of a junky who threw evreyting away because of drugs. HELL if I wanted to see that story I can just go home to another family reunion.
#8 I.S.S. – with all the tension and tribal mentality of our political spectrum today and with the almost whishing for a civil war…WHY THE FU@K would I want to go to a movie that just shows the perspective of the reality of that from 8 miles up? I’m sick of dealing with that at ground level…hard pass!
#7 Challengers – I’m a guy and this typically is not a movie for me so you naturally lost about 1/2 your population right there. The other half, the women, are having a hard enough time finding a man and you want them to go to a movie where two hot, young million dollar athletes fight over one girl…Don’t need a soothsayer to see this one flopping. Learn to read the room before making a movie.
#6 Book of Clarence – I understand that they thought most Catholics would flock to this movie in some sort of Pavlov response, but you rubbed them the wrong way on 2 key points. First and foremost, satire about religion is lost on them …even if you have a British accent. Second…and I can’t state this enough…there were black people in it! The one reality that most Catholics can’t face is actual black people being in the bible. I’m going out on a limb here and guessing a Jewish person produced this movie…again…learn to read the room.
#5 Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare – Good job, right off the bat name a move something that most people have a hard time saying. “But people don’t judge a book by its cover”…have you met the American public?!? Yes…yes they do! Besides WWII movies have been done to death.
#4 Madam Web – people are sick…and I MEAN SICK of Hollywood rewriting a known story and replacing the main character with a woman. It just smacks of desperation (See the Mad Max franchise who no longer had Mad Max in it!). So you learned nothing from She Hulk…ok.
#3 IF – That movie seemed like a combination of a typical Pixar with a budget 100x bigger then it needed to be. Just logistically it CAN’T get its money back. My guess is that you could have made 5 other movies just as good and still shortchanged the 3rd world animation creators.
#2 The Fall Guy – The first one bombes so I have a great ideal…how about we remake it with a larger budget BUT…this time lets give it an actual plot that if anyone believed would be given a helmet to wear 24/7 once they leave.
#1 Argile – I can sum up this flop with one title…”Jewel of the Nile”. I saw the preview of this and immediately thought, “DAM, they just remade the jewel of the Nile but just changed the plot just a little bit"…and YOU expect me to pay $60 a head to go see it? No thank you…I’ll wait for streaming.
I disagree with several of these selections. I feel there were some far worse movies released than some of the choices made in this video.
"Hold my Beers…."- Kevin Costner
I actually liked The Fall Guy.
Rare that a good movie is made anymore
Movie theaters will be screwed if this continues for much longer.
Combine the endless franchise movies and remakes, Hollywood seemingly deliberately alienating the core audience of most of those properties, then add in the pandemic and you get a lot of people not going to the movies. Let that simmer for about 10 years and you get a generation that hasn't been raised going to the movies. Now the movie theaters go the way of the shopping mall because the culture has shifted away from the venue.
Given the diversity in movie type and quality on this list, I'd say that people here are right and it's a moviegoer problem, not a filmography one.
I saw and enjoyed Abigail. It was exciting, funny and a good horror movie.
I go the theaters about once or twice a year. I've only gone to see Dune 2 this year. I buy everything on Amazon. I have combat PTSD and I don't like being around crowds….or people in general.
